Yello, Gelsenwasser as well as many public utilities from Kusel to Munich have been using it for a long time in their customer or meter reader apps – the meter scan function pixometer SDK. Whether electricity, gas, water or heat meters – with mechanical or electronic display: With the pixometer scan function meter readings are easily, reliably and quickly captured using special image recognition (OCR) and correctly assigned to the meter using barcode recognition. Further details about the scan feature are available in the pixometer product brochure (.pdf).

pixolus regularly provides updates with improvements in recognition performance, support of new meter types and adaptations for the latest iOS and Android versions or new smartphone and tablet models. The new version 3.5.0 contains a number of improvements, for example adaptations for Android 10 and iOS 13 and a new automatic mode for the camera torch to improve the scanning performance.

pixometer SDK is available as evaluation or license version. Licensees receive the unrestricted full version automatically. Interested parties can request the free evaluation version by mail to pixometer@pixometer.io.

Die Neuerungen auf einen Blick:

• Unter Android wurde die Abhängigkeit von den Google Play-Services entfernt, da diese nach einer Ablesung nicht den gesamten Speicher wieder freigegeben haben. Hintergrund: Dies konnte bisher bei bestimmten Konstellationen (Android nativ, Xamarin und Xamarin.Forms) und häufigen aufeinanderfolgenden Ablesungen u.U. zu Einschränkungen im Kamerazugriff bis hin zu Abstürzen führen.
  
• Das Cordova Android-Plugin konnte unter manchen Umständen nicht kompiliert werden. Dies haben wir nun korrigiert.
  
• Anpassungen des Cordova Android-Plugins an die neueste Cordova Android Engine 7.1.2.
  
• Das Xamarin.Forms NuGet wurde an Visual Studio 2017 für Windows angepasst.
  
• Unter iOS wurde die Unterstützung für die veraltete armv7s-Architektur entfernt.

pixolus is continuously improving its pixometer meter reading scan function. Now the updated version 3.3.0 with several improvements is available. Licensees already received their version without a limited runtime. Interested parties may order a free demo version via info@pixolus.de. By this the full function range can be evaluated noncommittally until summer 2019 (end of run-time).

The main improvements at a glance:

• New automatic mode: Allows to read meters according to devision (power, water, gas) automatically with regard to meter types current in central Europe
• Improved focus properties under Android
• Improved visualization of detector results
• Barcode detection under Cordova and improved handling of meters compatible to the type EDL21
• Support for Cordova 7

The pixometer SDK is available for iOS and Android (native) as well as PhoneGap/Cordova, Titanium and Xamarin (incl. Forms). We made sure that the SDK is running trouble-free under iOS 12 and Android 9. (SKr/OKa)

We have ensured, that the update runs smoothly under Android 8 und iOS 11. A detailed list of all improvements is attached to the SDK in a „NEWS“ file.

Newly we have unlocked several functions for professional users for everyone – by default and free: The integrierted barcode scanner enables to identify meters quickly and reliably; furthermore the list of meters can be browsed, filtered and sorted in the app. So just test the pixometer app by yourself!

verbesserte Erkennung digitaler Zähler (LCD)

We are happy to announce a new version of our pixometer SDK. The SDK is available as an evaluation release upon request. Version 3.0.3 will operate until 2016-03-31 and supersedes version 3.0, that stops operating at 2016-11-30.

These are the main improvements over the last version:

• Improved autofocus performance for LCD meters on Android
• Added barcode reading support on Android devices without Google Play Services
• Support for camera permission requests on Android API level 23 and iOS 10
• Several bug fixes for barcode reading on Android.
